Find
Finding Things
The RTD Map Server allows you to quickly find items on the map such as Addresses,
Bus Stops, Light Rail Stations, Park-n-Rides, etc. The items in which you
can find vary depending on the map tab, so not all items may be available below,
in every map tab.
Finding Items on the Map
General Search Instructions
- Open the 'Find' Window on the upper-left side of the Map Server Application.
You may need to expand the window to open it.
- You will see a list of items from which you can find on the map. For instance,
it may list Address, Park-n-Ride, Bus Stop, Bus Route, etc. (Items vary depending
on map tab).
- Select the type of item to search for.
- Many items will then list out individual items you can locate on the map in a new
list below the original. For instance, selecting Park-n-Rides will then generate
a list of all Park-n-Rides. Simply select the Park-n-Ride you are interested
in.
- Other items, such as Address, require you to enter the specific place or item to
search for.
- The item is then shown on the map, and if more information is available about it,
it will be displayed in the Attribute Window.
Finding Specific Items on the Map
These specific type of items may be available to search for:
Address, Park-n-Ride,
Bus Route, Busses, Light Rail Stations,
City/Suburb/Town
Please note that some items are map tab specific, so not all items may be available.
Finding an Address
- Select 'Address'.
- Enter your Address. You do not need to enter your city.
For instance, to find RTD's main office, you would simply enter "1600 Blake St"
- The map will zoom to the address and display the address location with an icon (star
or other icon) along with the address.
Notes:
- You can also enter an intersection. Enter intesections in the following format:
"'street' & 'street'", such as "Broadway & Colfax".
- Not all addresses can be found. For instance, new houses and streets take
some time before they are in our database. We get periodic updates of address/street
data several times a year only.
- There is some difficulty finding intersections with state, county and Interstate
highways. We are working on a method to fix this in the future.
Finding a Park-n-Ride
- Select 'Park-n-Ride'
- Select teh Park-n-Ride you are looking for.
- The map will zoom to the Park-n-Ride, highlight it and display any available information
about the Park-n-Ride such as number of parking spaces, lockers, etc.

Finding a Bus Route
- Select 'Bus Route'
- Select the Bus Route you are looking for.
- The map will zoom to the entire bus route (remember they can be quite long) and
highlight it. In addition, any available information about the bus route will
be displayed in the Attribute Window.
Finding a Bus
- Select 'Bus'
- Select the Route-Block combination that defines the bus you are looking for.
- The map will zoom to the bus and display it as a pushpin. In addition, available
information about the bus will be displayed in the Attribute window.
Note: Bus information may be "live", in that each busses position is being updated
periodically. If you select a live bus, you may notice the bus icon itself
move away from the pushpin icon. This is because the bus has moved, but the
pushpin is static (it doesn't move).
Finding a Light Rail Station
- Select 'Light Rail Stations'
- Select the Station you want to find.
- The map will zoom to the station and display it as a pushpin. In addition,
any available information about the station will be displayed in the Attribute window.
Finding a City/Suburb/Town
- Select 'Cities/Suburbs'
- In the 'Search Value' box, enter the city, town or suburb you are looking for.
Remember, they have to be in the RTD district, or we won't find them. You
can enter partial values. For instance, entering 'Den', would return anything
that contains the partial word 'Den', including of course Denver.
- Items found are shown in the Attributes Window. The map may not zoom to the
selected town, so you may need to click the 'zoom' icon next to 'Selected Cities
Features' to zoom. Note that some towns/suburbs consist of more than one 'part',
so they may be listed multiple times. This is normal.
