Live Bus Data

One of the new and exciting features of RTD's Map Server is live bus data (where available).

Live Bus Data

• Live Bus Data may be available in some map tabs.
• Live Bus Data is actually near real time, in that busses are updated every 30 seconds, however most busses only report their updated location once every two minutes.  This is a limitation of the hardware used on each bus to trasmit location.  Some buses, such as the mall shuttles on the 16st Mall Route (MALL) update much more frequently.
• When the bus data updates, a notice appears in the upper right side of the map application letting you know that the data is updating.  During the update, bus data may dissapear momentarily.  When the buses return, you may notice they are in new locations.
• If you are zoomed in far enough (as shown in the images below), the live buses will include labels allowing you to tell what Route each bus is on.
• This data may not be available all the time, and at times the bus locations may not update due to planned outages, updates or technology difficulties.
• Bus data can be turned off by unchecking the 'Live Buses' layer in the Table of Contents.

When Buses are being updated, you are notified in the upper-right.  Notice that the busses dissapear momentarily as they are updated.
